Where is Wilyabrup?

The southwest of Western Australia, about a three hour drive from Perth and 45 minutes from Busselton airport. We each have our own strong connections to the southwest, so we wanted to share this moment in a part of the world that's special to us, one that's close to family, and where our relationship began.

The Secret Garden

A labour of love by family friend Pat Poynton, the Secret Garden was the most perfect setting that we could think of to get married. The wedding ceremony will be outdoors in the garden (with contingency plans for inclement weather). After the ceremony, we will have the safety of a marquee in which to eat, drink and dance the night away. Guests are encouraged to explore the garden, but there is uneven ground, and grassed areas, so stilettos might be best left at home.

Welcome Drinks

To welcome you all to our wedding weekend, we've booked some space at the Busselton Pavilion on the evening of 10 April. We have organised some snacks, and additional food and drinks can be ordered at the bar. Drop in anytime between 5 and 8pm.

Recovery Brunch

More of a lunch, I suppose. Relax and recover with some beers and greasy food from the Beerfarm in Metricup. We've booked a spot from 11:00 until 1:30, but there's always the option to throw down some picnic blankets and stay just a little bit longer.

Can I bring my kids?

We love children, but for this one special day, we’re planning an adults-only celebration. Think of it as a night off to dress up, let loose, and celebrate with us. Please bring them along to the welcome drinks on Friday night, and recovery on Sunday if you're able to!

What should I wear?

The dress code for the wedding is black tie. Everyone loves a reason to dust off your best, or in some cases, go out and rent or buy a new tux or dress. You'll look good, feel good, and the camera will love you! To those who'll be wearing dresses, nothing remotely resembling white, please.

Transport options

There is minimal parking at the Secret Garden, which will be reserved for the wedding party and people with reduced mobility. Taxis are also quite unreliable in this part of the world, and there's no Uber! We will have a transport service running throughout the night to and from Yallingup, Dunsborough, Abbey, Busselton, Gracetown, Cowaramup, Gnarabup, and Margaret River.

Where should I stay?

The wedding will be held within school holidays, so accomodation will need to be secured pretty soon. There are plenty of short stay houses available in the region, some close to the venue, but while there are buses running, they will likely only do drop offs for those who are along the way. Staying in town is a good bet. We have put a few recommendations in the "Accommodation" section above. If you have any concerns about accommodation, please get in touch with us ASAP.

Food and Drinks

If you have any dietary requirements, please ensure you make a note of this on your RSVP (or, if you forget, please contact us by phone or email at least 6 weeks before the wedding!). As for drinks, we have it covered. We'll put on a selection of beer, wine, and plenty of alcohol-free options.

Can I bring a plus one?

We look forward to celebrating with you! Due to venue capacity limits, we are only able to accomodate the guests expressly listed on your RSVP page.

What about gifts?

Your presence will be a wonderful gift, but we also have a registry. If you'd like to contribute to our new life together, there is a list of things that would mean a lot to us. It's just for fun mostly. If you'd like to contribute in a more wholesome way, we'd love you to donate to Food for Change for those hungry in Australia, or to those in Gaza through the World Central Kitchen. All gifts and donations are listed under the 'Registry' tab on this website.

Emergency info

With limited phone service in Wilyabrup, those with Telstra will be able to make calls, but all other carriers are often unreliable. If you need to be contactable on the night (such as to keep tabs on kids at home) and won't have coverage, please let us know and we can make alternative arrangements.
